About National Motorcycle Museum
The National Motorcycle Museum was founded in 1989 by people who love motorcycling. Builders, racers, and riders, as farback as 1902, built the groundwork for what motorcycling has become. The National Motorcycle Museum's goal is to continue their passion, and ours, through documentation, preservation and education.
As the motorcycle industry changes with technology, we believe it is critical that we continue to invest in vintage bikes, memorabilia, enhanced exhibits, facilities, infrastructure and quality people. Only by investing in these things can we continue to provide our visitors with the best overall history and preservation of the motorcycle industry.
There is often misconception that we are a privately owned museum; however, we are a non-profit, 501(c)3 corporation, governed by a board of directors. Our funding comes from a variety of sources including admissions, gift shop sales, raffles, donations, memberships, corporations and grants.
By far, it is through generous donations that we are able to "tell the stories" about motorcycling and the motorcyclists who love the freedom provided by two wheels. With your support, especially these past three years,we have grown our collection from 40 motorcycles to over 170, many of these on loan from private collectors from around theworld. The collection of memorabilia, antique motorcycle toys, photos and posters has also grown extensively.
Continued support from motorcycle enthusiasts allows us to create new exhibit areas, such as our Board Track Room which opened in June 2003. Our next major project is a Media/ResourceRoom, which we hope to complete in 2004.
We encourage you to consider making a donation, arrange to loan us a vintage bike for display, or visit with us about the many ways you can become actively involved with Museum projects.
According to current IRS regulations, your donations to the National Motorcycle Museum are tax deductible.
